Making of Digi pack back cover

The Making of Digi pack front cover

Here is the process the picture for my front cover went through starting with the original picture. I edited the picture itself then added the text and extra images.

Here i set the colour scheme and added a blur around the edges the the viewer will focus on the centre where the artist is. Establishing the artist as the most important thing on the cover.

Then i added the Titles and symbols

Album art 5 - Digi pack analysis

Within this album the artist reveals a lot of his personal life and his personal thoughts; it has a tone of showing his fans his true self. The kind of thing that will allow the listeners to begin to feel they know the star better and so they can engage with him. In this cover the mise en scene is important; him appearing to be naked is demonstrating the theme of him showing the fans his true self not covering up or hiding behind a false image.

Album art 4 - Digi pack analysis

This album cover is for an artist who is from a rough background of gangs and drug crime and the message behind the title is that he will either get rich or die trying to. The image of broken glass implying a bullet has been shot through it is in reference to the fact that this artist has been shot 9 times and survived. Album covers and Digi packs usually tell a little story about the artist for the viewers to relate to or engage with. The expensive looking chain in the line of the bullet whole through the broken glass would have been carefully placed there; the theme is to get rich or die trying so will the bullet kill him or will the chain which represents money actually save him from his life. Another thing about this chain is that it is a cross; a cross that stands between him and a bullet, possibly this is to do with the fact he feels God blessed him and protected him when he was shot 9 times and survived.

This is the same artist as the previous image but for a different album; this album came at a much later time in his career. As is was later on he had been very successful and now has a higher status than before. This is evident in the ratio between the size of the font and the picture of his face. In this his face is much bigger because it is now a famous face which will attract buyers and his name is written much smaller because the majority of people will see his face and automatically know his name. The title of this Album is 'before i self distruct' and theme is that the high life of fame and success isn't what it seems and in fact he is falling apart. The mise en scene showing the clouds behind him is to give him the appearance of power as he has become successful and his career is 'flying' demonstrated quite literally by these clouds. In contrast to this; half of his face is rotting or falling apart to illustrate the theme of self destruction meanwhile his facial expression is confident and controlled showing he is attemting to contain current inner struggle.

album art 3 - Digi pack analysis

This album cover here is sending a very strong message through the imagery. The title of the album and the graphics are strongly linked to sell the angle and star image of the artist. This artist is someone who has come from struggle and poverty to success and wealth and often speaks about the contrast between the 2 within his music. The tittle being dreams and nightmares is in line with this character.

The image on the cover is of hand cuffs but one of the cuffs is an expensive watch instead, this follows the concept of dreams and nightmares and is very clear in getting the meaning across. The graphics are very well detailed and manage to get the right balance between realism and animation.

The key being placed in the cuff is a symbol that he is now free from the shackles of his past life and has found the key to his freedom through his music

The font also follows the album theme having the dreams in clear white writing appearing bright and clean; then the nightmares is red and bloody with blood dripping below which also represents all the bleeding and violence he encountered in his previous walk of life. The word dreams is also in a bigger font than the nightmares to show that the positives in his life outweigh the negatives.

The background being black allows the audience to focus on the imagery and receive the message that is being shown to them; the gold watch and cuffs are made to stand out on the cover as this is key symbolism in the aim of getting to audience to understand the meaning and reasoning behind the album title.

album art 2 - Digi pack analysis

This album was this artists 1st album and so the art work is focused on establishing his name to the viewers hence the title 'i am chipmunk'. As you can see the size of the font is so much bigger than the image of the artist and so its clearly more important to them to emphasise his name rather than his face. The colours also play a part because the strong contrast in colours between the black and yellow make the words stand out even more. The light shining behind the words has connotations that there are good things to come.

Here they have a chance to show a bigger picture of the artist on the back cover
once again showing the bright light behind him giving him a positive aura to balance the negative aggressive perceptions of his previous genre and his current stance.
