My Final Digi-Pack

making of lyrics page

Making of Digi pack back cover

The Making of Digi pack front cover

Here is the process the picture for my front cover went through starting with the original picture. I edited the picture itself then added the text and extra images.

Here i set the colour scheme and added a blur around the edges the the viewer will focus on the centre where the artist is. Establishing the artist as the most important thing on the cover.

Then i added the Titles and symbols

Website in progress

Here above is one of the pages i designed on the website, it is unfinished as i still intend to add some more interactive features including a section where you can listen to some of his songs. I also intend to make the website more personal and coming direct from the artist himself. As you can see here the font on the writing at the top of the page is symmetrical on either side of the page however i have experienced difficulties when opening this website on different computers. In some cases the fonts change without me changing them and when i go to edit the font it once again appears correct. This is an error i feel i cannot correct

Here is another page i have designed, This page is outlining the tour dates and so i have listed the date, the town, the venue and the price if tickets are still for sale. i have also added a button 'See More' that allows the viewers to click on it and to the the website of the venues to get a better feel and anticipation for the event. On these sites they will also be able to buy tickets

Website analysis 3

This website is interesting because as you open it up the most dominant text is the one about her tour instead of her name. Also its unusual that the picture of her is a side shot and doesn't show much of her face its more focused on the passion of her performance which will be aimed to sell tickets to her tour dates.

The image on the homepage is big and takes up a large portion of it however this picture changes

This little arrow in the corner when clicked allows the viewer to change between the different options of main images.

Each slide has a link to click which makes the website lively and exciting. It is very colourful and fast moving making it appealing to explore. I think the tone set by the site is purposefully matched to that of the character of the artist.

Taylor has an image of someone who is down to earth and viewers can relate to her. Her songs are young and full of life but more to do with real life situations rather that just expensive things and a superstar lifestyle; this is what allows viewers to relate and engage with her character. The mise en scene her emphasises this, even though she is a global superstar with millions of pounds she is there in just a plain t-shirt in a bedroom. Holding her guitar and focusing on it showing all that matters is her music and the rest is unimportant. She doesn't appear to boast as there are no jewellery or fancy things in shot. Its this that makes her seem more human and causes listeners to become emotionally involved in her music because they feel as if they know her. This theme is continued by the text......

The superstar addresses her fans directly saying 'hi, i'm taylor', it is shown to be her speaking to the audience personally which is a further example of my previous point that she makes the viewers feel as if they know her well and she is a real, down to earth person.

The lay out of the text is also an example of this, the effect used to make it look like pieces of paper makes it more personal than just text on a website and brings the words to life.

Website analysis 2

This website revolves around the beauty of the artist as you can see the very top and large majority of the homepage is a collage of photos. The background behind the pictures is black so the pictures stand out and the viewer focuses on her, enriching the colour and tone of her skin. Due to the global size of the artist her name isn't written in a huge font, in proportion to the page it is quite small but this is because her name is well known and doesn't need to be forced upon the viewer; another reason is that her face and looks is one of her main selling points and therefore takes priority over her name size wise. However the colouring of the name allows it to remain very noticeable.

This page is about the history of the artist where some personal details about the artist are shared with the viewers. The page appears dull and quite plain; it isn't colourful and there is a large amount of text. I feel this could be because this page where the artist reveals personal details about her is specifically for her hardcore fans and only a hardcore fan would take the time out to reach such a large piece of text which doesn't appear to be very exciting or appealing.

There are a lot of photos of the artist on the site and here in the photo collection page the pictures are accompanied by text. The text is red on a white background making it stand out; the writing is a description of where or what is going on in the pictures which transforms this from a photo album to a sort of trophy cabin as each pictures glorifies her stardom, success and good looks. She is a very successful artist and the website emphasises this

logos

Here is some of the hand drawn artwork for our group and artist logos, we have changed the artist name to Angle instead of Angle because of obvious copyright reasons and the fact that we are creating our own image not copying theirs. Here we have tried to make the tone of our art work vibrant and youthful as our target audience is young people. We want the logos to appear exciting and unique because these logos represent the artist.

even edits is the name of our production group.

Unexpected Circumstances

Unfortunately during the course of our project the school was robbed of all its computers and cameras. This set our project back a large amount; huge amounts of editing was lost on our video and some pictures and art work also were not recovered. The loss of the cameras meant we could not film for a while and the loss of the computers meant we could not edit or use the software provided by the school usuallly. This was very frustrating as we lost parts of the project that we worked hard on which has put us under great pressure to meet deadlines.

website analysis 1

http://thisisangel.com/home/

This is the website for the artist Angel who is a singer. For a singer this website is quite unusual in the sense that it is black and white which isn't very colourful or vibrant. This is because although he is a singer he has quite a unique image; this artist sings mainstream songs but has a street image. His urban image is similar to that of a rapper however he doesn't always sings songs that match this. The website being black and white sets a tone that matches the street/urban side of his image.

The lay our of the website is structured around the video that is being shown, the video is dominant the home page. This means that anyone who is unfamiliar with the artist will instantly hear his music and any of his fans will see his latest song. His image is one that could be misunderstood and so the video is the 1st thing you see allowing his music to do the talking.

The artists character is clearly one of the main focusses due to the order of the lay out. People read from left to right and so usually we notice the left side of the page 1st; the boxes on the home page read 'tweets, latest gigs, mailing list, music'. Twitter is how fans will get to know the artist more personally which is why i say his character is clearly prioritised as this was placed on the left; the music part is in fact read the last out of the 4. That could be because there is a music video above which should have been enough to grab the viewrs attention.

There are only 6 songs made available to be listened to which may be because they want viewers to buy and download his albums and new songs and so they can't give them too much free music. If they did his fans wouldn't be as eager for his music and he would in turn sell less units.

Album art 5 - Digi pack analysis

Within this album the artist reveals a lot of his personal life and his personal thoughts; it has a tone of showing his fans his true self. The kind of thing that will allow the listeners to begin to feel they know the star better and so they can engage with him. In this cover the mise en scene is important; him appearing to be naked is demonstrating the theme of him showing the fans his true self not covering up or hiding behind a false image.

Album art 4 - Digi pack analysis

This album cover is for an artist who is from a rough background of gangs and drug crime and the message behind the title is that he will either get rich or die trying to. The image of broken glass implying a bullet has been shot through it is in reference to the fact that this artist has been shot 9 times and survived. Album covers and Digi packs usually tell a little story about the artist for the viewers to relate to or engage with. The expensive looking chain in the line of the bullet whole through the broken glass would have been carefully placed there; the theme is to get rich or die trying so will the bullet kill him or will the chain which represents money actually save him from his life. Another thing about this chain is that it is a cross; a cross that stands between him and a bullet, possibly this is to do with the fact he feels God blessed him and protected him when he was shot 9 times and survived.

This is the same artist as the previous image but for a different album; this album came at a much later time in his career. As is was later on he had been very successful and now has a higher status than before. This is evident in the ratio between the size of the font and the picture of his face. In this his face is much bigger because it is now a famous face which will attract buyers and his name is written much smaller because the majority of people will see his face and automatically know his name. The title of this Album is 'before i self distruct' and theme is that the high life of fame and success isn't what it seems and in fact he is falling apart. The mise en scene showing the clouds behind him is to give him the appearance of power as he has become successful and his career is 'flying' demonstrated quite literally by these clouds. In contrast to this; half of his face is rotting or falling apart to illustrate the theme of self destruction meanwhile his facial expression is confident and controlled showing he is attemting to contain current inner struggle.
